Ladies
Brooklands Ladies Together (BLT) host events throughout the year geared towards growing relationships and fellowship between ladies within our church while providing an opportunity to invite friends and colleagues along as well.
We have now set our dates for this coming year 2010.
Each evening event starts at 7:30pm and is usually at the church
March 26th – ‘How to look good’ evening. As women the media and magazines seem to constantly be telling us that we are never good enough, never the right size or shape. This does nothing for our self esteem; so we want to spend the evening celebrating the way God has made us and to learn some useful tips on how to make the best of ourselves. We shall have our own Trinny and Susana and Gok Wan. Cost £3 for supper.
14th May Charity Night- This has become an annual event for us. We will be raising money for Vision Africa. One of our young ladies, Rebecca, is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in June. We have a special speaker coming who has recently worked with the charity in Kenya. We will also be having some special singing. Cost £5 . Please bring unwanted books for our book swop.
8th July Scalextric evening. Who says ladies make the worst drivers – it is not true so come along and lets prove it false. Don’t worry you won’t be leaving your seats. Lets have a competition and find out who is the best driver amongst us. Scalextric track near Stockport
2nd October. We will be going back to Peak Serenity in Derbyshire for a days spiritual retreat. This was great last year so please plan to come. We shall try and keep the cost the same as last year £15 – great value.
Thought for the morning
I was reading this morning about the story of Abraham sacrificing his son for God and then how God at the last minute provides the ram as the sacrifice. I was reminded afresh about Abraham’s total love and commitment to his God. I know God is not going to ask me to sacrifice one of my children on an altar but He does challenge me about my love and devotion to Him and am I willing to put God first in all aspects of my life, even before my children.
Take time to read that Old testament story and reflect on your christian commitment.
Look up the words of this song and make it your prayer for today—
‘All that I am I lay before you,
All I posses Lord I confess is nothing without you.
Saviour and King I now enthrone you ,
Lord take my life ,my living sacrifice to You’
Have a good day and God bless
Ingrid
